Heritage Incentive Grant Overview

The Heritage Incentive Grant, offered by the Queenstown Lakes District Council, aims to assist with the financial costs associated with maintaining, protecting, and preserving the district's natural and built heritage. This grant program includes three types of assistance:

  1. Professional Advice: Funding for expert advice on matters such as earthquake strengthening, building conservation plans, and adaptive re-use feasibility studies.

  2. Consents: Reimbursement of land use and building consent fees incurred during preservation or adaptive re-use projects due to historic designations.

  3. Maintenance: Monetary grants to support routine maintenance work performed by professionals, such as tree pruning or repairs to specialized stonework and windows.

Application Guidelines:

  • Applications must pertain to historic buildings, sites, or objects listed in the Inventory of Protected Features.
  • Grants are available only for approved projects and will not be awarded retrospectively.
  • Detailed information about the heritage experience of any professionals involved must be included in the application.
  • Funding decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis, and grants can be awarded no more frequently than once every three years.

For a complete application and further details, applicants are encouraged to consult the full guidelines provided by the Queenstown Lakes District Council.
